Deciding that I wanted to create a ~politically charged~ collection of stories from young people was the easiest part of this anthology.

 

The focus of the anthology was a separate journey.

 

Originally, this collection of stories was going to be focused on gun violence in America. But the students leading March For Our Lives were (are) doing great work, and it was their story to tell anyways. 

 

Then, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez released her bold legislation, The Green New Deal. It was ambitious, radical climate legislation that finally felt like progress. Washington picks it apart, and it feels like we’re back to the drawing board of ignoring what the scientists are saying.

 

Every community in the United States is dealing with the changes in climate. We've got to stop pretending we have another place to go to. That's what this is about. We're focusing on the deeply human stories of real people struggling and of a generation in fear of the future. These difficult times continue for people long after the storm ends and the news cameras are gone.
